On October 31, years and years ago, my mom was asked “Trick or Treat?!”, and what a treat she received: ME! :-) Yes I was born on Halloween! While I used to consider this a bane because everyone was busy collecting their OWN treats on what was supposed to me MY special day, now, as a mom, i find it to be a blessing because my birthday is always a guaranteed FUN day with hubby and kids, with the many events that happen all around town.Three events you and your family SHOULD NOT MISS!Havaianas PLAY BACK : October 25, 1pm, Bonifacio High Street in front of All Flip Flops. Our favorite flip flops brand pays tribute to retro family games we all used to play and still love! Piko, patintero, sipa… we were all experts at these, but have we ever shared these great Pinoy classics with our own children? Come to High Street on Saturday and not only enjoy sharing part of our own childhood with our kids, but also bring home goodies from Havaianas!Then on Sunday, troop on to Rockwell Power Plant Mall, where the best kids events happen! This year’s theme, JUNGLE JAM promises to be an event that we mommies love: a mix of fun and education. With partners WWF and My Zoo on board, kids get to learn and see live exotic animals and learn about them. Plus with sponsors Kiddieparty.com, Hershey’s and Tutoring Club, lots of treats and free activities are in store, just before the kids go to the mall and collect the yummy treats from Power Plant’s stores. Tickets are at P450 per child inclusive of 1 adult, available at the Customer Service counter of Rockwell.On the same day, Edsa Shangrila Hotel holds its own grand event, KIDDIE KARNIVAL 2008. This popular offering of the hotel takes a different format this year, with a very interesting exposition of products and services for moms and kids, plus fun activities round the clock for all attendees.I’m looking forward to a fun, fun weekend with my kids! Last month, I realized if I were to count the number of mobile phone accounts my hubby and I were maintaining (counting our personal phones, our business lines, and the ones for the household) it would total a whopping 8 lines! Imagine how much of our family and business budget goes to cellphone payments and load! So when I was invited by Bayan Telecommunications to join this “reality show” cum social experiment called THE BIGGEST BILL LOSER, I took the opportunity to see if and how I could actually lower my cellphone bills with what Bayan was offering, which was the Bayan Wireless Landline. As one of the participants, I was given a month to use the BWL, which I find to be such a handy and convenient gadget to have! I would in fact, recommend it to other moms who live as busy a life as I do!

Because Soap suds shouldn’t cause skin sorrows

I grew up having skin problems and even if I breastfed my children they seem to have (sadly) inherited this bane of my childhood. Having atopic dermatitis and asthma of the skin made me allergic to heat, certain food, dust, and even certain brands of shampoo, toothpaste and detergent. Babies can talk

Why do babies cry? Well, because they can’t speak and tell us they’re hungry, or wet, or just want a cuddle. Now there’s a way we can help ease the frustration for both baby and parent: teach baby to communicate through hand gestures or, as modern mommies and Oprah call it, Baby Sign Language. This wonderful discovery featured in the O show a few years ago, has been a big help to many Filipino moms (me included!) since Jaymie Pizarro started holding Baby Signs classes in the Philippines since she got her US certification almost 4 years ago. Learning is fun with Galileo!

As a mom of 2 school age boys and 1 that will soon be entering preschool, I am always on the lookout for things that make learning fun for my kids. Galileo is an enrichment program offered in two modules (Math and English) which aims to make children life-long learners through its kid-friendly and kid-focused approach.
